2012 Color Trends
As Creative Dire
ctor with Robin E. Williams Incorporated it is my role to keep up with design trends similar to my past work at Hallmark with retail and product development. This Saturday I found myself researching and writing from my favorite bookstore in Asheville, NC with a French coffee press by my side. As I flipped through DDi magazine, I noticed an article on color forecasts for 2012 that I thought was worth sharing with all those presently involved in the interior design of health centers, university student centers and other facilities trending towards sophisticated, warm, natural and homey environments. The article presented by Sherwin-Williams, particularly caught my attention as my childhood involved spending many hours in Sherwin-Williams with my mother who worked with them as a color consultant advising consumers. Workamajig!
For several years, our disparate endeavors as a small consulting firm have been effectively unified through the many solutions offered by Workamajig. Our connection to the company goes back to the days of Creative Manager, when Flash-based portions of the application were the exception, rather than the rule. With the development of Workamajig, the multifaceted product performed more smoothly, and with the release of version 10.5, several months ago, I was struck by the impact our feedback seems to have had on its development. I’ll soon have a 2nd opportunity to facilitate this roundtable with hospital fundraisers. The results of our first try at AHP meeting in Nashville last month pleasantly surprised us due to the turn it took. See our June blog, “Social Networking for Healthcare Philanthropy”.
We had thought the digital media subject would evolve related to donor recognition within an organization’s website, its facility’s interactive touchscreens or digital signing. Instead, attendees were actively engaged sharing experiences and gaining insight related social networking and its impact on giving and stewardship. Current social network options (Twitter, Facebook, Linked-in, etc) were all evaluated, yet more interestingly, the realization that traditional organizational techniques used for community engagement work well, with modification, on line, too. Most of the same rules apply, while new ones evolve. Cautionary tales were many.
This new healthcare roundtable is scheduled for Friday morning, July 24 at the gathering of the Georgia Association for Advancement Professionals in St. Simons Island, GA. I look forward to facilitating this discussion too. Together, we’ll ride their wave of interest where it leads. Will present a summary report following the meeting.
